Pre-Winter Vehicle Check-up Press Release
Join Urban Dreams and our partners on Saturday, October 17, 2020, at North High School from 8 a.m. – noon for the fifth annual Free Prewinter Community Car Checkup.
Urban Dreams is partnering with the AE Dairy, Broadlawns Medical Center, Des Moines Area Community College, Des Moines Police Department, Des Moines Public Schools – North High, the Guardian Project, NAPA, O’Halloran International, Quality Services Corporation, United Way of Central Iowa, Verizon, and others to provide free vehicle check-ups that help prepare our neighbors’ cars for the winter.
The first 500 vehicles that arrive at North High school (501 Holcomb Ave, Des Moines, IA 50314) before noon, will receive all services.
Free services include: windshield wiper replacements, battery connector tests, windshield wiper fluid fills, car light bulb replacements, car seat inspections, visual inspections, and referrals.
AE Dairy, Braodlawns, O’Halloran, United Way, and Urban Dreams provide goodie bags with food and hygiene products.
“This is one of our favorite events; it gives the opportunity for outside organizations to come in and authentically help the residents,” says Urban Dreams Executive Director Izaah Knox. “Every year, we try to add services and partners to provide more for our neighbors. This year is no exception, and we want to thank our partners for stepping up in such an uncertain time.”
