Summer City Hoops is a free, 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament for youth and adults. Junior High and High School Games will start at 7p.m. every Thursday. Adults will begin at 8 p.m. and go until 11 p.m. Slots are limited, so please signup NOW. Register Here.
The partners have joined forces to offer the 3-on-3 basketball tournament. Games will alternate between Evelyn K. Davis and Martin Luther King Jr. Parks. Portable lights will be brought in for games that play after dark.
The event kicks off with pool play for the first 8 weeks, then a double elimination seeded tournament. During pool play, each team will play two games beginning Thursday, June 7 through Thursday, August 2. The double-elimination seeded tournament will begin on Thursday, August 9 and end on Thursday, August 16. Winning teams in each category will receive a championship trophy.
Age divisions are as follows:
Going into grades 6-8
Going into grades 9-10
Going into grades 11-12
Adults are considered to be done with high school
This is a Des Moines Community Collaboration designed to address needs identified by community members in the 50314 and 50316 neighborhoods to establish placemaking and programming over the summer that creates opportunities for youth and adults to build relationships and light the basketball courts.
